U.K. MIDWEEKS: ADELE EYES AN "EASY" WIN

Adele, naturally, is heading for #1 on the U.K.’s Official Singles chart, with “Easy on Me” (Columbia) scoring 70k so far. Over on albums, Coldplay is set for the top.

At the halfway point, “Easy on Me” is outperforming the rest of the Top 10 combined and likely to claim the biggest opening week for a song in the U.K. this year.

Elsewhere on singles, following the release of Music of the Spheres, Coldplay’s “My Universe” (Parlophone) with BTS has jumped 11 places to #4, while its Selena Gomez collaboration, “Let Somebody Go,” starts at #17.

Becky Hill and Topic’s “My Heart Goes (La Di Da)” (Polydor) looks ready to enter the Top 10 for the first time at #10. Dermot Kennedy’s “Better Days” (Island), meanwhile, continues its upward trajectory, rising nine places to a new peak of #15.

On the U.K.’s Official Albums midweeks, Coldplay’s ninth album, Music of the Spheres, has kicked off a bumper Q4 release schedule, which also includes full-lengths from the aforementioned Adele, Ed Sheeran and ABBA.

Music of the Spheres has shifted 81k to claim the title of fastest-selling album of the year (Dave was the previous record-holder, with We’re All Alone in This Together moving 74k its opening week in July).

Coldplay leads an all-new albums Top 6 today, with the Super Deluxe Edition of The Beatles’ final album, Let It Be (UMG), at #2. Daniel O’Donnell’s celebratory 60 (Demon) is currently at #3, followed by The Charlatans’ greatest hits collection, A Head Full of Ideas (Then Records), at #4.

The debut from South London singer/songwriter Joy Crookes, Skin (Insanity), rounds out the Top 5, while Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes could earn their third Top 10 album, with Sticky (AWAL) at #6.
